President's Day Weekend

Well,  I didn't stitch much this last week.  I have had some family issues where I wasn't able to get to my stitching.  But, I wanted to post so that I will keep to a schedule.

This Sunday, my stitching group got together to stitch.  Each month we are having some sort of exchange.  January was favorite tool.  This month was Valentine's candy.  We had a great time.  I gave Laffy Taffy, Starburst, and Fun Dip.  Next month we have decided to make a group charm bracelet.  Each person is to go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's and get a charm bracelet for ourselves and a charm for each person in the group that represent the person giving the charm.  I think this is going to be fun.

Also, my new start this month will Curious Owl by Art to Heart from JABC.  I bought this at the Silver Needle stitching retreat a couple of years ago.  I saw this in my stash and thought, why not.  I thin it will be cute.

Well, thanks for stopping by.

Orange Beach Retreat

This weekend I went Crossthreads Needlework's Orange Beach Retreat with my two sisters, Jennifer and Bridget, and our stitching buddy, Lisha.  We drove down late Thursday night and stayed until Sunday afternoon. We ate at LuLu's Restaurant twice for lunch and at Cotton's for supper once.  I had a great time.  I worked on a lot of the projects that I took with me.  They were:

*Tre civette sul comò by Madame Chantilly
*Pretty Kitty by Jannlyn (finished)
*Three Sisters by Staci Nash
*A Friend's house by Sisters and Best Friends
*Line Up: Boy by Trilogy (finished)

I didn't get to:
*Robin Hood by LHN
*Tuffet's Cupboard by JABC

I finished two projects.  I might of been able to finish 3 but I can't count.  I was working on  Tre Civette Sul Como, finished the 3 owls and was working on the cabinet but kept having to pull out because I miss-counted.  So, I didn't finish it.  I made some great progress.

We had so much fun at this retreat, we are considering another of Crossthreads' retreats this year.

I can't wait to work on more projects.  Thanks for stopping by.

Couch Potato Weekend

Well this weekend was a bust.  Friday my cousin, Liz, and I went to town.  This is our usual Friday extravaganza.  We went to eat at the Shrimp Basket.  Great fried crawfish tails, yum.  Then we went shopping,  :( mostly at Walmart.  Saturday I was going to clean my office/craft room but I cleaned my DVR instead.  I watched all of my favorite TV shows NCIS, NCIS:LA, NCIS:NO, MacGyver, Hawaii Five-O, Criminal Minds, and Dr. Who.  I wasn't too far behind in my shows but I was such a couch potato.  I couldn't make myself stitch, sew, or crochet.  But, it felt good to do nothing.

On Sunday, Jennifer, Bridget, and I discussed what we are bring to the Orange Beach, AL, stitching retreat.  I am bringing:
*Tre civette sul comò by Madame Chantilly
*Pretty Kitty by Jannlyn
*Three Sisters by Staci Nash
*Robin Hood by LHN
*Tuffet's Cupboard by JABC
*A Friend's house by Sisters and Best Friends
*Line Up: Boy by Trilogy

I am not bringing "Our Lady of the Flag".

After this I went home and finished the Treasure Within bookmark as shown below.

Star Wars Weekend

For Christmas, my brother Ricky gave me the Star Wars Movies 1 - 6; I already had 7.  So this weekend I decided to have a Star Wars weekend.  My nephew, Leif, spent Friday night at my house.  We got up the next morning and started watching the movies.  I crocheted on the sunflower squares for the afghan while we watched.  He made pod racers with Legos.  He made it through 3-1/2 movies before he couldn't do it anymore.  Thank goodness my nephew Tyler (they are the same age - 7) came over.  They went outside to play in the sand with their pod racers while I finished the movies.  In the two days (Saturday and Sunday), I completed all of the sunflower squares, 24 total.  Now I need to crochet them together.  I now know why the kit was on sale when I bought it.  The sunflower squares are 22 stitches across and the blue and white striped are 24 stitches across.  Monday I tried to crochet them together but I got discouraged.  My mom told me to do a decreasing stitch when I put them together to make the work.  They are the same size squares but not the same number of stitches.

I also worked on my punch needle.  When I finish all the ones I have, I will not buy anymore punch needles.  Actually I only bought 2.  My sister-in-law Mari bought the Christmas ornaments.  But, she decided that she didn't like it.  Well, I am the stitching & craft hoarder in my family.  If anyone wants to get rid of something, I take it.  That is why my craft room is busting at the seams.  So, I will finish the punch needles that I have, give them as gifts and then I'm done.

Happy Groundhog Day.
